I recently upgraded iPhone from 1.0.2 to 2.2.1. I followed the process mentioned here
and it works like a magic.
Virginize unlocked 1.0.2
Upgrade to 2.2.1
Awaiting the 3.0 jailbreak and unlock process and the 100 odd features it provides..
