What's On Bill Gates' Mind

"Bill Gates is thinking hard about video on the Internet. So reports the Wall Street Journal today. During his twice-yearly Think Week last week, the paper reports that the growth of Internet video was among the topics of the 300 papers he plans to read, and he spent a 30-minute walk on the beach—the first time he left the cottage last week—pondering the topic."

"According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 69% of Americans say the Internet is a good way to entertain themselves in daily life, and 88% say it plays an important role in their daily routines, which include finding a wealth of information at thei fingertips. Given those findings, the opportunities for Internet video seem endless: New ad revenue from sponsors, with endless airtime, more ways to split your "channel" to increasingly finer demographic slices, maybe even deliver customized content presentations that users can slice together—and interact with?-- according to their own interests."
